I have memories of kids in my class bringing multiple large tubes of Pringles with them. There were also people who made their parents drive to several different supermarkets for junk food. Kids were guaranteed to be sick of junk food by the time they got the bus home.
Kids today probably bring hummus and carrot sticks.
5. The weather was always the same

It wasn’t cold, but it was always extremely cloudy and miserable out. Rain gear and extra socks were taking up precious space in your bag that you wanted to use for sweets.
6. Getting to wear your school tracksuit or if you were really lucky, you got to wear your own clothes

So much easier to run around in than an ugly pinafore. The freedom of movement in these clothes made it feel like a day off regardless of whether it was a school tour, sports day or just P.E. day.
7. Praying that you didn’t have to sit with the teacher on the bus
You probably decided on who your partner for the bus would be just after Christmas, but there was still an underlying fear that they would be sick that day and without backup, you would be forced to sit with the teacher. Do teachers know how much kids hate this?
8. There was always one kid who waited until the bus was well onto the motorway to announce that they needed to pee

Some of the older teachers used to offer to let them pee outside. This probably wouldn’t go down as well in schools today.
9. Waving at every truck and car around you
